Life: Hey, You Can Do Better!

Dear  people,

There is actually this pain-in-the-ego irony some, if not all, of you are facing and, thus, needs clarification. As a youngster, you see adults as fun, joyful, and full of awesomeness; or sort of such. Once, you solemnly thought it would just be cool for you too when you reach that stage of life, wishing time would elapse fast, at double triple speed, into the future. So that, you who were once young, free, cheer-spirited, non-egoistic, and un-judgmental could, as adults, have the same things, embrace the same awesomeness, and feel the same coolness. After some years, which is reflectively fast in just several blinks of eyes, you’ve turned adults. Yay! Fun times with those awesome things you once longed for! Having co-existed with you along these sadappy (sad +happy) years, as a sublime form of existence (and perhaps of great significance to all of you), I am happy for you. As I am about to congratulate you, you step in, rival, and thrust a long list of painful complaints―some dramatic―into my face, which hurts my mouth and makes me solidly conceptualize that you are just a pain, not in the a-s-s, but in the face.

As a tool for revenge, I should bombard you with this long list of questions, which I suspect would degrade your current state of happiness―which, for some, might be already low. I would ask questions like: how are things going on with you, being adult?  How have you, as a well-behaved and good-hearted (as I conceptualize) adult been enjoying all the awesomeness? Don’t you have good, memorable times, and will have a lot more, with your girl/boyfriend, just as your older brothers, sisters, or relative once had when you were not caring at all about the future? And, how’s the job going? Aren’t you learning and at the same time getting to travel as much, and earning good amount of money from the so-called perfect job you love—just as, again, one of your maternal uncle had at the time you were just small, playing happily under the sunlight? Do I, uh, too have to mention the precious Lexus your father’s elder brother had, and which he had driven your cousins and you to school during your primary school days? Do you happen to like your own Lexus?  Do you want me to go on? For the calmness of your emotionality, and mine, I’d rather not. One final, though (and I’m sorry if you feel bad for this): how’s your heart? Perfect in its starting condition? Keep that to yourself!

Another 32 Trivia of Me

For the 6 months I didn't contentized this blog, I’ve been busy; lazy; depressed; suppressive on self-expression. Whatever you might have seen that! Most of the times, God knows, for some reasons, I’d like to keep things to myself. Somehow, I feel bad about that, and for that, I apologize, sincerely, for those who, once in a while, come to check if I have presented up another drama.

Whatever comes to your mind, I’m sorry, and we’re here again. So, here it is: a new article for this blog after a long silence.

I once, on this blog, wrote some facts about me. Those 51 things some of you might have found interesting though some of which are probably, to some, weird. Thank you for your good read. For those of you who haven’t gone through those, you can read it here, before going through another 32 pieces below.
  1. I still love reading, and by some lucks, have switched from reading websites to reading books though books are quite more tedious and require more attentions in reading. I still read articles on some websites, though.
  2. Of all the movies I’ve watched, I’ve enjoyed them to a good level. I’m still having this temptation to write a review.
  3. The first abroad country I’ve been to is China. It was early of this year I went there. Had a very great time there!
  4. I don’t watch too much TV these days. I spend time with myself more.
  5. The two authors that are dominant in my reading so far are best-selling Robert Kiyosaki (I’m reading a book of his and it’s his third book I’m reading) and Nicholas Spark, whose novel The Best of Me I’ve finished the other week.
  6. I collect name cards and use them as bookmarks. Weird? Convenient, that way.

Raksa's Rain?

I have been hard on myself since then. Seasonal wind came and went and, as days turned into nights and the cycle repeated itself, I didn’t remember, and still don’t, feeling either the heat, warmth or coldness the weather have brought along, or have changed. Not because I have regarded the weather as a trivial thing, but, maybe, my brain has been occupied and, for some weirdly good reasons, I don’t see it an advantage wasting my human emotions with the weather.

Not for today, yet! When the weather comes so harshly, to a degree that I couldn’t help ignore it. The sky has been rigid dark, absurdly, all days long since the morning—since my eyes caught sight of it. And not after a minute I have decided to cold-heartedly and effortfully drag myself out of bed and flopped into washing room, the rain, which fell boisterously last night, starts to pour once again. The washing room is a tiny downstairs, for-all room with a traditional set of shower, considered obsolete by some, a toilet tub, a half-watered bucket which had a water-cup floating on it, a shelf, under a mirror, filled with two toothbrushes (both are mine; I’d like to keep, for a personal reason, the old one there), a long toothpaste box which is thin at the tail and a piece of soap that was eroding days after days. Into the mirror, I saw myself: flesh that covers my body, my beardy face that is embedded with thin blacky shadow—well, if you look closely—and, I hate to mention this, many other things on my body; not to mention the black spot on my lower lip, which people whom I know intimately tease to be a sign of me being good at, amongst other things, talking and cursing, and that is so contradict to the reality in which a simple me doesn’t talk so much—at least since then.

A Lost Soul Turns Stronger!

I heard the news, shocked.

I thought about that, doleful.
I thought more, sorrowful.

I tapped myself, bewildered.
I sat there, blurred.
I closed my eyes, darker.

I shut myself, failing.
I repeated, lingering.
I turned, wishing.
I felt myself, sickening

I rivaled the voice, fragile.
I wanted to jump, senseless.
I tried and pushed, stuffier.
I cried a bit, excruciating.
I went on, devastated.

I paused, gallant-er.
I dried the eyes, determined.
I drained the voice, better.
I opened the eyes, lighter.
I stood up, brighter and aliver.
I promised myself, stronger.

A Loser under the Rain Rose Again—and Better!

The sun was high in the sky after it felt silently in itself that the light it had brimmed out, till the current phase of the day, suffice to dry the wet, probably watered and muddy, land—streets— which were soaked by the last night rain that poured outrageously and almost non-stoppedly. Luckily, for some, as they might have reasoned to themselves, there were sunlight, for this Sunday, to dry out—or, dehydrate—their washed and draped cloth. This self-imposed reason propelled them to get up from their bed, leaving behind the laziness inside their body that weaken their mind, to collect their cloth which had been worn, and stained with sweat and smells, throughout their weekdays and bring them, for another week, to laundry—a task which some eased with a clothing-washing machine and which some others had to complete using their mere hands and wooden-covered brush—and with, specifically for some others, thin plastic gloves.

The reason, despite its logicality, didn’t make it ways into Visoth’s head whose body and mind were still peacefully resting, in his messy bedroom, on his dust-filled bed where, atop, a few Sandra Brown’s novels—The Crush, Smoke Screen, Fat Tuesday—were flaunting tirelessly for a gentle clutch and an ardent read. Above-naked as the reeking striped blanket had been rolled away to a corner of the bed, Visoth, who was as frivolous as other aimless grown-ups, was still harboring a cute peaceful slumber till this sun-high-on-the-sky time on a Sunday—a kind of slumber which most teenager-turn-adults, like Visoth, would enjoyed and be proud of.

Life As I'm Facing And Hearing It

Taylor "not-so" Swift: I don't know about you but I'm feeling twenty-two and everything will be alright.

Me: I don't know about you either and I'm twenty-more-than-that but everything aren't alright. Prettily, life is f-up manily here and everything is at its own best in boisterous mess.

John Wade, a famed film producer, said: Life is hard. It is even harder if you're stupid.

Acclaimed author Jodi Picoult: Hold on strong and endure hard; life is one hard difficult test; you'll pass the test if you keep on clinging.

Legendary Mark Twain: If all my words don’t seem to motivate you, 21-century adult, maybe you should try “marriage”, which would, for one brave turn, end all these hard-time adulty mess-up. Plus, your parents are doubting too!

My crush―if any: I’m sorry to hear about this hard time. I agree with Uncle Mark Twain. That's right; it's me right there and here for the whole time. I think about you, secretly, days and nights, which, when the factual reality hits me gently in face, crushes my heart crucifyingly―you never know how brutally retaliating that is. Sometimes, you know, I noon-fantasize that you and I are holding hand, walking together, fighting despite all the hardships cursed upon us two. You know, my love―I’m sorry if you’re mad at me addressing you so―we could do this, right? Give us a chance? I don’t want to move on, me-ly, with you as a good learning lesson. I'm just wishing the love which, by any miraculous chances, you may share could take my breath away just as when I was fantasizing about you and I being intimately in love. You know, for the current time, I’ll always be there for you, and, dearingly, I’m insanely in crush on you.

A Motivational, Meaningful, Story About Stress-Managing

A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?"

The answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralysed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralysed – incapable of doing anything."

Remember to put the glass down.

Or, pure the water out and put the glass away.

The above story originally exists somewhere on the net.

Lightening Words of Inspiration: Hunter Hayes's Invisible

Man, I love this one. Hunter Hayes comes back with an inspiration. I'm not a complete total fan but I gotta say this handsome guy with this kind of consoling voice and this soothing song of his that would curl the mind are off-the-hook.

20 Awesome Love-Life Movies Quotes To Learn From

I was born and raised simple-ly as an innocent Cambodian boy. During my childhood, as other kids, I didn't think much about the future; I enjoyed those now-nostalgic childhood things and was quite care-freely childish, about which I wish I had been tapped into a more learning-conducing environment.

I was sent to school and I have learnt to socialize. A part of me has always seek-ed (sought) out to allocate the meaning of my life. With that, at one time, I started to feel the magical awesomeness of learning and knowing life-related things and notion. The feeling inspires me and urge me to keep on learning things for life.

Now apart from my academic world, which I feel I haven't achieved much but somehow satisfactory (and a part of me tells me to earn more achievement, which I feel convinced), I have usually tried to seek out to learn more through observing, reading, sharing, watching, etc.

Among those knowledge-collecting activities, watching movies has always been a part of the routines and has somehow topped the priorities. Dating back briefly, I started the routine because somehow I felt that watching movies could be edutaining, though informally. In a phrase, watching movies sounds usefully good to me.

How I Spent The First Morning of February

It was Saturday, 5 a.m, and as I was waken up by the alarming tune to just be reminded that a new day had just started and that it was, once again, time to wake up and live, I didn't feel like getting up. Not at all. My eyes wouldn't open under the influence of the lazing it-is-weekend mood. With sublime rivaling efforts, I managed to pick up my body, pitifully, and get out of the bed. As I hauled out of the net-covered wooden thing, the normality of feeling of the start of a new day was howling besides and, though still sleepily enthused, I took the chance, economically, to just surge in pure nature of the almost-gone dawn.

That was exactly 5: 05 am of the first day of February, the so-called month of love and Champion League. Also, it is one of the Chinese New Year days and people are expected to go on holidays. Well, Facebook is not lying (if you know what I mean).

20 Awesome Quotes to Welcome 2014

I have just given a summary of how "bitter-juicy" 2013 was to me. Prettily, it was a rough year and living through was quite hard. Yet I'm strong enough to survive and life goes on, baby!

On the night of countdown, I know a lot must have happened. Some sweet, some fun and some drunk. I was out late that night and it was somehow fun and I did enjoy it. Yet, what I really wish I had done that day is spending time in Lan Kwai Fong, partying all my souls and experiencing something exciting.

The first day of 2014 is not quite kind to me. I got up, feeling sick; my throat hurt and it sucks! Though, new days are supposed to be great, heh! And, I think I have plans for this new year, 2014, which is presumed to be bumpier and more challenging.

What Actually Happened to Me in 2013

Life ain't easy at all. Yet, we shall not ignore the fact that it keeps moving forward with or without our agreement. It is really tough to learn that people around are all good and on the right track to prosperity while you are just here playing frivolous. That moment is exact and it is when you compare, brutally, yourself to them and bad feelings are just on the verge right in your head.

For the past whole year, friends keep asking me what I have been up to. I gave them answer which they all find suspiciously lying. Now, tell me what feeling would you be holding when you are telling the truth and people find you a liar just because they have learnt that you've been joking around. Well, clowns too have hard times!

Looking back into my life, which is a usual thing I do, I somehow pity myself. I just do! It's not because I haven't done anything at all but what I have accomplished is just nothing compared to those of others. I know I shouldn't be feeling that. Well, yeah, I'm mastering that ignoring skills.

The Morning Read: 20 Things You Probably Don't Know

I actually don't know these facts either!

But how trustable are these facts?

I have no ideas, too. But, how do I get to know these?

Reading!

Reading is always fun, though. Just read and keep enlarging your knowledge. Don't die, knowing less things. Reading doesn't cost much.

So, today I got up, like, at 4 am while the dawn was setting its foot into the sky. Well, I think I have reasons now to start getting up early. Well, more contents on that in the next post and it is almost 2014 and I need to do something, something really something.

The fact is I had to finish some work and, apart from that, do some morning reading, which I believe is good for myself.

When it comes to reading, it's crazy. I just feel like: ain't nobody have time for that? Yet, it is a piercing truth that reading is good for one.

A Strange Dream Before Christmas Day

I was teaching as usual, except for a fact that I left my Nokia 1280  almost battery-less at my desk. The day was quite hectic and I didn't re-fill the battery until the night. Not until the morning, to be exact.

"Low battery," a sign popped up. It seemed like it would have wanted to say, "Refill me, A-hole."

As I finished my dinner, I ascended into my room, lounging around at my desk and reading online.

Everything seemed to be about Christmas, huh. Then, I realized tonight was the Christmas eve. I am a Cambodian, though. I did thought of sending anonymous gift, honestly. The thought was not strong enough, yet.

I couldn't find the charger. As the night went darker, my eyes turned wary and I had no choice but to lay my laptop down and brisk myself to bed.

Something happened in the morning. Something shocking!

10 Motivating Songs To Resurrect A Crumbled Soul

I don't know and plan this. Things, bad things, still come along. Applause for them!

I have been so busy and puffed lately. Knowing that stress would come along anytime, I make myself an affirming resolution that if stress and bad things poof up and  no matter how big they are I gotta refresh myself.

Like expected, things crush bad, putting in me a bad contagious mood. Don't temp me; I could eat a human at the moment, heh!

Bad day, though, not bad life!

Of all the worse happenages (new coined word meaning: things that happen; synonym to "occurrence"), I hate the most is dealing with fellow human beings who.....well, let's just say my rules and theirs didn't get along and who want to play me like a kid (wrong person, dude!)

50 Random Things To Do Before You Die

Some call and compile it into a wish-list. A bucket list, a more widely-referred term.

It's no strange that respective us have wants and needs and ambitions. Some disguise their greed in as ambitions.

So what do you want to do before you die? Learn a third or fourth language? Sunset seeing with your beloved one? Visit all the magnificent wonders of the world?

I think the following things should be typicals in our respective list, though it only reflects my thoughts.

And, though these things come from my thoughts, it doesn't necessarily mean I will do all of them.

It's Time to Move On

Let's make a deal first. This piece is wholly  purposed up to inspire some to move on.

We all want a happy life, right? Yet, life keeps going wrong? Doubts? Research is still in progress for that. If only there were "happy life" at the market!

Let's get real, yet!

You see, we enjoyed many years of being carefree souls, during which we ran and played joyously without caring how badly flunking the economy is and how tortoise-step the world is going to be a greed-lead place to live in. Times fly and we grow up to a stage that we learn to socialize and love. In between, not all of everything we all want want us back. Some, we get while some others, we don't get. (This mother-of-grammar structure, is too classified, huh!)

Too Many Awesome Movies This Year, 2013

To trace back, I'm not raised up rich and spoiled and life has just been normal.  That is, not having modern things, gizmos, and lifestyles okays for me. Life was once simple and, somehow, the fact that that simplicity goes on in this globalized and computerized world doesn't quite scratch me itchy a lot.

That stated ain't means I'm just an old style, not adapting any changes necessary in this little world. Well, somewhat, I prefer things done in my ways even if they are quite different (and weirder) from others.

One thing I might have done different from others might be the ways I watch movies.

If you are a frequent visitor to my blog, you probably have learnt that I like watching movies and the way I spend time on movies is different. Well, while my friends who are "rich", I'm either "impatient" or "patient". Most of the time, semi-patient or fully patient.

Tougher Journey Ahead

When most of my friends ask, either on social media sites or in persons,  what I am doing right now, I simply joke around with "I'm a motor-taxi driver".

Actually, I am teaching.

To talk about education in Cambodia, I'm in no feelings but in a blender  full of shame and doubts. And, I metaphorically choke at how "urgent improvements needed" the system should be lifted up.  It hurts, like a lot, to face that education in Cambodia is "not so good". There are quite many a problems in the system, which I and many other Cambodians   disgrace. In a picture, poor students ain't having enough financial support and access to tertiary education. And, that cycle is cycle. It sucks, really.
